Social skills groups

Small, guided groups where children practice conversation, sharing, and friendship skills with peers.

Friendship skills are learned by doing. In our social skills groups, children practice starting conversations, taking turns, joining games, and solving small conflicts. They do it with peers, in real time, with a trained team coaching along the way.

Groups are matched by age and skill level, and activities are built around things kids enjoy, so practice feels like play, not a lesson.

What to expect

  • An assessment of your child’s social strengths and goals before group placement.
  • Structured activities and games that target specific skills each session.
  • Updates for caregivers with ideas for practicing at playdates and in the community.

Frequently asked questions

How are groups formed?

We match children by age and skill level so the group is a comfortable fit and every child has peers to learn with.

What skills do groups work on?

Common goals include greeting others, taking turns, sharing, staying on topic in conversation, reading social cues, being a good sport, and handling disagreements calmly.

My child is anxious in groups. Is this a good fit?

Often, yes. We start where your child is comfortable and build up gradually. Some children begin with one-to-one sessions and move into a group once they are ready.
