Emotional regulation support
Helping children name big feelings, use coping strategies, and move through transitions more calmly.

Meltdowns, shutdowns, and hard transitions are often a sign that a child does not yet have the skills to handle a big feeling. We teach those skills directly: noticing and naming emotions, asking for a break or for help, and using calming strategies that work for your child.
We also look at what happens before and after difficult moments, then adjust routines and expectations so your child can succeed more often.
What to expect
- An assessment of triggers, current coping strategies, and what your child is communicating through behavior.
- Practice of coping skills during calm moments, using play and visual supports.
- A simple, shared plan so home and community respond in the same way.
Frequently asked questions
What does emotional regulation support look like in ABA?
We teach replacement skills, such as asking for a break or using a calming routine, and reinforce them consistently. The goal is to give your child better tools, not to suppress feelings.
Will this help with meltdowns at home?
That is the aim. We share the strategies we use in sessions and coach caregivers on using them at home, because consistency across settings is what makes new skills stick.
How long does it take to see change?
Every child is different. We track progress on specific, observable goals and review it with you regularly so the plan can be adjusted as needed.
