Center-based vs. in-home ABA: how to choose

ABA therapy can happen at a center or in your home. Neither is better across the board. They are good at different things, and many children use each at different stages.
A center offers structure and peers. Children practice following a schedule, learning in a group, sharing space and materials, and being apart from caregivers for a while. That makes center-based programs a strong fit for goals around school readiness and social skills.
Home is where daily routines live. In-home sessions let a team work directly on mornings, mealtimes, sibling interactions, and bedtime, in the place those skills are actually used. Caregivers are close by, which makes hands-on coaching easier.
A few questions can help you decide. Is your child preparing for a classroom? Are the hardest moments at home or out in the community? How does your child cope with new places? What does your family’s schedule allow? Your BCBA can help you weigh these against your child’s goals.
Comprehensive Behavior Solutions provides in-home and community-based ABA therapy. Our sister organization, Galaxy Developments, provides center-based services, so families can move between settings as their child’s needs change.
